"Let all the failures of your past year be your best guide in the New Year." ~ Mehmet Murat ildan
An amazing quote to end the year!
How, how can December be already? It feels as though just yesterday was a hot, sunny July day that I was thoroughly enjoying, lol. Yet, here we are, firmly in the midst of winter and just days away from another Christmas.
We are grateful that weather remains beautiful, with daytime temperatures in the mid-60s. However, I must admit that I'm ashamed for complaining when the drops to 45 degrees night, especially when people in other areas are enduring -20-degree temperatures. I am genuinely attempting refrain from such complaints and to remember how blessed we are!
Do you complain, despite being aware of your blessings? It is unfortunate, but it is natural for everyone to complain at some point and forget how blessed we truly are. From complaining about traffic to the high cost of food and life in between, when we should be grateful for the vehicle we have to be in the traffic, thankful we are able to buy food and blessed to be alive in this crazy, fast paced, fun, sad, confusing world, lol!
It is important, particularly during this time of year, to reflect on our blessings, our loved ones, and above all, remember the reason for the season: the celebration of Jesus' birthday.
One thing I'm doing is reading the book of Luke. If one begins on December 1st and reads a chapter each day, by Christmas Eve, they will have read and learned the story of Jesus. Unfortunately, I read at a slower pace due to my eye issues; however, I am making progress and very grateful to able to read at all.
Do you have any special plans for Christmas? Do you have a 'tradition', if so, who and when did they start it? We always observe a very simple Christmas, and this year, we are breaking the 'Christmas dinner' stigma; we will be having a Christmas brunch, similar to what we did for Thanksgiving, which turned out great, lol.
From our little family to yours, we wish you a beautiful, blessed, holiday season filled with tons of happiness, fun and love!
On our next blog, we'll be following up on the taboo subject of women, cannabis and orgasms, lol.
